South Park is offensive; death threats more so

Just wrong. Making fun of people’s religion is immoral. Making death threats, even more offensive. While I might fight for South Park’s right to make the cartoon (but not show it on public airwaves), I can’t condone it. I certainly don’t condone death threats.

Someone once said, “And Wilson was an honorable man.” Yet, no tribute page exists for the man, one who formulated a doctrine called the “Word of the Kingdom.” Though I am not attached to the man’s teaching, I felt someone should create a tribute page for the man, a page representing his distinguished thought. Wilson’s teachings have been endorsed by Arlen L. Chitwood, John White, and several other pastors.

Preparing to record some demos

I’ve recorded a few demos, but not to any level of satisfaction. In April, I plan to record a new set of demos with Johannes, an alternative Christian rock band. They are excellent musicians, and I’m looking forward to working with them on this project. I hope to record at least several demos for distribution.

Kevin Smith’s “oversized” complaint

Not to be heartless, but if you don’t fit, you don’t fit. Director Kevin Smith complains he was unfairly kicked off a flight, but I’m not sure his complaint is justified. Airlines should make reasonable efforts to accommodate its passengers, but not this far. If you don’t fit, buy another seat. Sorry, but that’s life. See article: MSNBC on the Kevin Smith incident.

Just got an e-mail. Someone wants to buy my post office box. According to the e-mail, he was driving through the neighborhood and noticed my “house.” He commented that it looked particularly “roomy” — perfect for his family. Maybe for Tom Thumb, maybe.

The Transportation Security Administration, under scrutiny after last month’s bombing attempt, has on its Web site a “mythbuster” that tries to reassure the public.

Bring back the stylus

I bought a Palm V in 1999. I was astonished that a computer could reside in my hand. Sporting 2 megabytes of memory, the Palm V kept track of my contacts and calendar and contained a complete edition of the Bible (the RSV). I upgraded immediately to the Vx, which came out a month or two later, and was a satisfied Palm user for many years.

The PDA died a hard death, but resurrected itself (predictably) in other incarnations: smartphones, iTouches, e-Readers. But gone, in most instances, is the stylus. Not necessarily the most elegant way to input data, the stylus is nevertheless the most practical — and most computer manufacturers are ignoring it. The iPhone is a remarkable device, but finger-tapping is tedious and unnatural. Micro-keyboards are a waste of time. It’s time manufacturers brought back the stylus. My fingers are getting sore.
